2nd magaizne research

Language - Here is a cover of The Rolling Stone issue from 1976. You can tell the difference from a recent issue to one from around 50 years ago. On the front cover of this magazine is the most famous band ever, 'The Beatles' ! The colours on this front page are red, yellow, black and white. I think they have used these colours to go with the image they have used. This magazine cover is not as edited as they would be now but for back then it would have been really good. They have used their image to fill the full page. The camera angle they have used is a medium shot. The font of the magazine is consistant throughout the full page except for the main title which needs to stand out so they have used a different font. They have positioned the main image so that it is the first thing you see when you look at the magazine.

For the contents page:  On the contents page you can tell it is quiet old version of Rolling Stone magazine. They have centred the images in the middle with the text and page numbers on each side of the images.  They have also kept the same theme throughout the magazine.
For the double page spread: This is a newer version but you can tell they have made the image clear and used smaller text than usual so you see the image first. They have used a full shot for the image. They have used the same colours throughout the 2 pages black, white and grey.

Institution - This text was produced by Rolling Stone magazine. The magazine is a U.S based magazine published every two weeks. It was founded by Jann Wenner in San Fransisco in 1967 (Who is still publisher and editor) and also mysic critic Ralph J. Gleason. The magazine was named after the Muddy Waters song of the same name.

Ideology - I think the rolling stone magazine isn't trying to give a a specific message, However they have used The Beatles for their main image because they were the most well known band in the 60's and this will attract readers, Also they have made them the main focus of the cover by filling the picture with them.

Audience - The target audience for The Rolling Stone Magazine is for Rock n Roll lovers aged around 20-40. The gender ranges however mostly males would buy a rock magazine. Females occasionally depending on who is in the magazine

Representations - I think the rolling stone magazine are trying to attract new readers with using big names as their cover image but also introducing new image such as the double spread introduces the new singer Nicky Minaj.
